Welcome to Mestengo Books, a gathering place for my works of fiction and nonfiction. I wracked my brain for hours to come up with an appellation that represents me and my work. With so many blogs/sites already out there, it’s difficult nowadays to come up with something original. Mustang is a popular online moniker because it speaks of strength and endurance. The horse has been a totem animal since I was a child, so I knew it would be a good symbol for me (freedom, travel, strength, endurance). Mustangs, of course, are my favorite; they’re a hardy breed, borne of Spanish bloodlines and have survived the wilds of the Americas since the Spanish first brought them here.
The word has a neat history: its origin is from the 16th century Spanish word mestengo that translates to wild, stray, ownerless. I knew the moment I saw it I’d found the right one. And anyone who knows me can certainly attest to the fact that I am, without a doubt, una mestenga.
I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoy writing.
